At the WVAGP membership meeting in February 2008, the various constituencies broke out into groups and derived the following recommendations to improve statewide GIS coordination and services. Please post additional suggesstions and identify your respective consituency group: federal government, state government, regional/local organizations, private sector, education and research. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
Establish a quarterly map modernization conference call
STATE GOVERNMENT
Improve communications among agencies
Better understand the mission of each agency
REGIONAL/LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
Improve water/sewer utility mapping
Identify more geospatial resources from the public/private sectors to assist counties
PRIVATE SECTOR
Publish statewide data standards and metadata (documentation about available GIS data)
EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
Publish an annual GIS Training Catalog
Support students financially through WVAGP funded projects and initiatives
Manage call for papers/programs at annual conference
Oversee a student volunteer work program at annual conferences
Coordinate GIS Day activities in State
Promulgate a GIS Day proclamation by the Governor
